On yoga practice
I may not be the most dedicated student. I know
I’m not the most disciplined student.
I may be lazy and I get so overwhelmed by
my own problems that sometimes is unbearably to practice.
I get disconnected. My breath becomes
irregular. My focus gets lost. And there I am: stiff body and stiff mind.
Yoga is an invitation to heal. And as we
practice, all the struggles, the pain and suffering that lay deep down inside
us, eventually comes to the surface.
That’s when the knees start to hurt, and
the arms, and the legs and the wrists, and then everything aches and we feel
like we’re stuck into an old man or old woman’s body.
The beauty of this is that we are being
given the opportunity to improve ourselves, to become more conscious, to become
aware of all the parts of our soul that still need to be polished.
With time, method and devotion, we experience
the true connection with ourselves, with who we really are, that part of us
that is not subjected to criticism nor self-doubt.
